Tools of the trade

Most people don’t care at all about gear, but if you do, you’ll love this page. I own a lot of really great equipment that I really love - a world class collection of basses (22 bass guitars and 4 uprights currently), drum set, keyboards, guitars, amplifiers, microphones, and so much more.

If you’re a fellow gear nerd, I hope you enjoy what’s here.

I talk a lot about gear on my TikTok channel. http://www.tiktok.com/@adamoveracker

My favorite cables are Asterope, my favorite in ears are either Shure or KZAS10 depending on the application, I love Snark tuners, I put a Hipshot Drop D on ever 4 string I own, I use and love Nordstrand pickups and preamps as well as Bartolini, John East, Aguilar, Seymour Duncan, and Lindy Fralin. Mono and Gator Cases as well as those that came with the instruments. I can’t travel without my Vox Amplug, and every bass I own has Dunlop strap locks and Franklin glove leather straps. I use a custom recording desk / workstation that my father built, my string quartet is mic’d using Countryman microphones, my interface is Universal Audio, and my microphones are from Rode, Shure, AKG, and others. My favorite pedals are EHX though I also have pedals I love from Aguilar, Boss, Radial, and Polytune. Uprights have Realist pickups plus the Kay has K&K, and sometimes they also get Underwoods or mic’s.

Mike Lull M5V

My favorite bass, I asked Mike for what he considered his best bass and this is what he sent, and he was right.

Alder body, birds-eye maple fretboard, Seymour Duncan pickups, Bartolini preamp.

Mike Lull pj4

I bought this as a P4, then later added a J pickup and an aguilar preamp. The pictures are from before the upgrades.

I’ve also added a John East preamp to this bass, which is amazing. Everything else about it is stock, and it feels and sounds great.

Juzek 3/4 upright bass

A friend found this at a Deseret Industries (same as Salvation Army or Goodwill)! It was in terrible shape, but some restoration by a good luthier and it sings beautifully.

Restoration by Tim Stephenson, C Extension by Robertson & Sons.

Reunion Blues bow quiver, Realist copper foil pickup, Thomastik Belcanto strings.

Bow is Dorfler, French, 137.5 grams.

Kirschnek 3/4 upright bass

The first upright bass I ever purchased and the instrument I’ve used most in my career. It’s been at my side since 2001 or so, getting me through thousands of gigs.

Upgraded endpin by Tim Stephenson.

Reunion Blues bow quiver, Realist Copper foil pickup, Thomastik Super-Flexible strings.

Past loved pickups include the Fishman Full Circle, BP-100, and Underwood.
